Skate Tank is an indoor/ outdoor skate park, featuring a collection of jellyfish tanks and social distant pods. It is a place to speed up and slow down motion (of body in space and of visual ambiance. Gradient of motion ranges from the slowness of floating jellyfish to the high speeds of skating. With these two opposing ends of the spectrum running alongside each other, the goal is to produce an atmospheric sense of equilibrium through combining high + low energy. Resting/ study/ social areas are also available through the social distant pods dispersed throughout.
An Unlikely Combined Agenda
Skatepark: a system of winding ramps that loop through the entirety of the building with zones that branch off of the main circulation system; these zones feature additional skateable areas
Jellyfish tanks: these tanks are dispersed along throughout the skatepark and are used to divide spatial zones; they provide a sense of visual "slowness" and otherworldliness
Social distant pods: these pods offer a place to rest, concentrate or even “socialize” in a new way while preventing the spread of airborne particles, meant to be transparent to allow views between each other to induce a sense of “togetherness,” individually and well-ventilated, self-cleaning after each use with UV light features, fully equipped with Wi-Fi, electricity, surround sound audio, HVAC/ heating, accessible via their own circulation system, separate from the skateable ramps.
